When I Think of Child Development

” Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul.” – Friedrich Froebel.

” We cannot know the consequences of suppressing a child’s spontaneity when he is just beginning to be active. We may even suffocate life itself. That humanity which is revealed in all its intellectual splendor during the sweet tender age of childhood should be respected with a kind of religious veneration. It is like the sun which appears at dawn or a flower just beginning to bloom. Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life.” – Maria Montessori.

Hi: I really enjoyed your posting regarding children and how important, it can be for the normal process of development, before entering this program, I looked at play as a time for children to go out and enjoy themselves not that it had so much value to it.

  2. Hi Fidelis! I love your quote from Froebel!

Also, I also want to thank you for your insight to a world I would have never known. I have never really been outside the US and by you sharing your experiences I was able to understand the world from another point of view. I wish you all the best in your studies and look forward to our paths crossing again!

Hi Fidelis! Play is such an important part of children’s development and I really enjoyed learning about Froebel this semester. It was also nice to get to know you this semester. Enjoy your time off and maybe we will have a class together in the future. Good luck with everything!

    Hello Fidelis,
Well we have made it through another interesting class together. I enjoyed reading your quotes, especially the first one. Play is so important for the growth and development of young children. As you stated, it provides expression and exploration for their young minds and souls. Thank you for being so supportive during this class. I wish you well in the future!
